Overview
Profile rolls are key components in rolling mills used to form grooves, teeth, or contoured profiles on steel products. They ensure stable shaping performance, high precision, and consistent product quality under continuous operation.
Designed for heavy load and severe working conditions, they offer excellent wear resistance, fatigue strength, and long service life.

How to Choose the Right Material for Profile Rolls
Rolling Type (Cold Rolling vs. Hot Rolling)
Cold Rolling:
Focus on wear resistance at room temperature and resistance to profile damage.
86CrMoV7 is a reliable choice for most applications due to its excellent toughness and wear resistance.
For general-duty conditions, 9Cr2Mo or MC3 can be selected.
For complex profiles requiring higher stability and longer service life, MC5 is also a good option.
Hot Rolling:
Red hardness and thermal fatigue resistance are critical factors.
MC5 and MC3 cast steel grades are commonly used due to their stable performance under high temperature conditions.
For high-load and long-life applications, MC5 is recommended as the preferred choice.
Profile Complexity & Precision Requirements
Simple profiles:
9Cr2Mo and MC3 are cost-effective solutions for standard applications.
Complex profiles & high precision requirements:
86CrMoV7 is strongly recommended due to its excellent toughness, which helps prevent edge chipping and ensures dimensional stability after heat treatment.
Load & Service Life Requirements
General load conditions:
MC3 and 9Cr2Mo are suitable options.
High load & long service life requirements:
86CrMoV7 and MC5 provide better performance in wear resistance and fatigue resistance.
